Havana Club

Dark brown rum distilled from molasses. Aged in used whisky and bourbon barrels.

The premium rum from Havana Club, Selección de Maestros is the pride of Don José Navarro and his team of proteges who have spent more than 15 years learning the production secrets that make Havana Club the authentic Cuban rum.

Hand selected casks of aged rum are recasked in younger barrels and then blended to become Selección de Maestros. Originally test marketed as 'Barrel Proof' I find Selección de Maestros to be more elegant as was confirmed by the judges in the 2011 Ministry of Rum Tasting Competition.

The aroma of spice and toasted nuts combines with a slight tobacco and smoky wood nose. The initial taste is smooth, round and elegant with coffee, dried fruit and light tobacco notes. Cocoa, coffee and smoky oak lead to a, not too sweet, baked fruit and smoky oak finish.

Bottled at 45% alcohol by volume.
