This limited edition rum has been bottled exclusively for the 150th anniversary celebrations of what has grown from a small distillery in Santiago Cuba to the largest privately held spirits company in the world.
Blended by eight retired Bacardi family members who were Maestros de Ron in July 2011, the dark golden color of the liquid in this decanter almost illuminates a room. Select barrels of rum were carefully blended and then recasked in a 60 year old cognac barrel to create a rum worthy of being served to commemorate an historic family anniversary and their company that spans the world.
If you are lucky enough to find one of these bottles, sold only in select retail outlets, expect to pay $2000 for a 500ml bottle. I'm told there are only 400 bottles available at very select retail outlets like Miami International Airport and Luis Muñoz Marín International in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Another 600 bottles are being distributed to family members.
