Jean Georges is right, I had my first true taste of good rum on vacation in Barbados. I also saw many a bartender use a bottle of Angostura. I took home a bottle of the bitters and a bottle of St. Nicholas Abby 12yr. Not to mention a rum habit that I've yet to kick. Not that I've yet to attempt to try...

I don't have all the stats but from my research in the islands, I would say that there is more bitters, per capita, consumed on Barbados than any other island in the Caribbean. Nothing like some dark rum, ginger beer and a dash of bitters.
