Some people are lovers of wine and beer, and I am too... however, there is a special feeling I get from relaxing with a drink of rum, especially good quality rum, it reminds me of the easy going lifestyle of Caribbean people. I like being able to share that feeling with my friends.
... and by be here I hope to increase my knowledge of rum and share what I know of rum and better spread the contagion....here's to Rum!

Welcome to the forum. You'll find a lot of helpful information, and you'll discover a number of new rums you'll want to try.

Hello everybody, I am very glad to have stumbled across this site. I have been loving rum's for over 10 years now and I am currently making my own spiced rum tonight. I live in Victoria, BC and just drank some fine rum at The Reef downtown. I love finding great restaurants with great rums!

Scott.

I live in the Houston area and saw Ed speak at the Anvil a few days ago.

I have not drank much rum since college, but I am looking to expand out of the whiskey market in to other spirits.

Welcome to the forums. I hope you had as much fun at Anvil as I did. That was one of the best seminars of the week. 50 rums and 50 people.

Hi, I'm a retired Brit living in Spain. I've been a rum drinker all my life (since I was 16 and tall enough to get away with it!). Educated my family right and we are all rum drinkers, bringing son-in-law and his family into the fold. Our standard 'family' tipple is Mount Gay but my daily tipple in Spain is the 50% Negrita French Rhum Agricole from Bardinet or the Venezuelan Cacique. Living and working in the UK in my younger days restricted exploration to the dark rums -Capt Morgan, Lambs, Pussers and Woods. In my 20's I worked for a company that owned a spirit importer and was introduced to my first gold/amber rum - Royal Oak from Trinidad. That sealed my life-long affection for RUM!

Now living in Spain, the bars/bodegas offer a far wider range of rums and I enjoy making new discoveries with the true 'amber nectar'!

For the past four years I make the pilgrimage back to the UK ever October, ostensibly to celebrate my grand-daughter's birthday but then there's the RUMFEST in London. The family and I will be there on the Saturday this year so may bump into fellow members - particularly if you're in the VIP suite! And another nephew celebrating a key birthday so another inscribed bottle from St Nicholas Abbey.

I'm very pleased to have stumbed upon this site and looking forward to learning more and hearing other members views and recommendations.

In response to one posting I read - to me, all the Barbajan rums have a noticeable coconut note.

Hello, everyone. I'm an avid homebrewer/winemaker/meadmaker/sakebrewer who also enjoys a good spirit. I mainly prefer the aged varieties (whisky, tequila, rum), sipped neat.

I am 45 years old and live in Scandinavia. I have been drinking run long enough to know what I like and dislike but still have many rums left to try.
