Default The Kraken Rum

I'm not very good at giving reviews but here we go.

I was at my local club this evening and my friend (the bartender) asked me if I had ever heard of or tried The Kraken Rum. Always up for a challenge I ordered one at first on the rocks and then to pace myself I had few with a little coke added to it.

It is advertised as a 'Black spiced rum'. The bottle reminds me of a maple syrup jar with finger handles on both sides of the lid. But the taste is very smooth and pleasant. It works well by itself or as a mixer.

Overall impression: It's a very nice dark spiced rum. Worth giving a try.

Default Kraken

Left me feeling very warm. Strong scent of vanilla, tobacco, wood casks, and spices which I cannot determine.

Default The Kraken

As a Pirate in a fine community of other Pirates,
The wonderful sent of Rum calls to me... The Rum calls to me... So when I heard tell of Kraken, I was onto it.

Very smooth & full flavored spiced rum. Over ice is just fine though I have had a bit more fun with it...

The finger handles are especially helpful for carrying the bottle around while drunk.

We love the Kraken around these parts! We've gone through two of the 750ml bottles and now I have to stock the larger bottles. My friends and family love it more than any other rum for mixing, and it's not uncommon for an entire large bottle to disappear within a weekend of entertaining.

Very nice flavor and quite complementary to mixing. Some of my friends even drink it straight and enjoy it thus as well.

I was very pleasantly surprised by The Kraken. I'm on my 2nd bottle too. I have been having it with Boylans cola and lime and with lime, simple syrup and a splash of soda water.

I discovered over the 4th of July that Kraken goes really well with various flavors of Eegees!

If you'll take the time to post your recipes in the recipe section of this site, follow the link to the left of this post, they'll show up on the rum detail pages and are easier to find than here in the forum pages as the number of threads approaches 4,000.

Here's the rum detail page for Kraken. Now isn't that a lot easier than searching all of these forum posts, and searching for rums is easy, just enter the name of the rum in the search box at the top left, then click on the results. And there are
