Default When is your rum season?

In the past few weeks I've heard that rum season was coming as soon as it gets cold. Earlier this year a number of journalists asked me to give them some ideas for rum stories before the summer rum drinking season arrived.

What do you consider to be rum season? As someone who spent years drinking rum all year round, I found the idea that there is a rum season amusing but I do find myself drinking more hot rum drinks in the winter, especially in the higher latitudes.

What do you consider rum season? Feel free to select more than one season in the poll.

The only difference in seasons for me is....well........that's funny, I can't think of one...........
It might be that in winter I will drink rum straight earlier in the day on the weekends, in lieu of a rum cocktail, or drink hot rum drinks. Of course in Florida, Winter is just a name we give to January.........

I drink more when the summer house is open, so I consider that time - May to October - to be Rum Season, but rum is always in season for me, really.

I drink rum year-round. I have friends that believe in "Seasonal Drinking", which they define as "dark spirits in the winter, light spirits in the summer." This is just further proof to me that rum is the Alpha and Omega of spirits...even with that definition you can drink it year-round, just change which drinks you're putting it in.

Rum in cider in the winter, rum with ice, soda, and mint in the summer.

Rum is the most versatile of the distilled spirits, no other spirit is bottled as a white spirit, both unaged and aged then carbon-filtered, a dark spirit which has been aged and a black spirit colored with caramel. Rum is also flavored with all sorts of fruit and other things.

I do tend to drink more dark rum in the winter when I'm in a cold climate.

I drink rum regardless of the time of the year but I have this fantasy of sitting on the porch on a hot summer day while enjoying the concert composed by crickets. The occasional cooling breeze on the face. Time is still.

(I accidentally clicked spring when I meant summer)

Your mistake has been corrected.

Like most of the other responses, I drink rum year round. The only difference in terms of seasons is ice in my punches in the warmer weather and sans ice in the cooler. It does seem that I drink more rum straight when it's cool outside than otherwise.

I find my appetite for Rum is the highest in summer during the months of May to August. In the fall and spring I really lean towards Canadian Whisky. And in the dead of winter Scotch seems to dominate.

There is nothing like an ice cold Rum and Coke when the thermometer peaks, followed by a nice sipping rum in a glencairn glass after my thirst is quenched.

Whereas when the Thermometer drops below zero I like to sit in my hot tub on the deck, sipping some nice scotch like Highland Park with a touch of sprite to open the flavour.
