Potter's West Indies 151
Hi, new here. Thought I'd pass on a new rum I recently came across. Not a great replacement for my old fave, Lemon Hart 151, but "serviceable".
Got it from Beverages and More while visiting a friend in San Jose. Clear bottle, white label. It's bottled and brewed right there in San Jose.
The rum itself is tasty, a tiny bit sweeter than Lemon Hart, but not quite as rich in flavor. The color is a tad darker than honey.
Personally, I'd put it a close second to Goslings Black Seal 151.
Any other thoughts?

Thanks for mentioning Potters. Actually that rum isn't distilled in San Jose but rather in Florida or the Virgin Islands. It is blended in San Jose.

Thanks Edward, for the info. It's going to be tough to get in the mountains of CO, but I have links in CA. Toward that end, I've been giving info about Potter's, and Gosling's 151, to my local liquor stores that carried Lemon Hart. Not, IMHO, real substitutes, but it's the ol' beggars and choosers game now.
It's really nice to meet a group of real Rum lovers!

Maji,
Check you local liquor stores for Neisson and La Favorite rhums. The New Lemon Hart should be distributed by the same company, European Wines and Spirits, out of Denver.

There will be a transition from the old distributor to European which will depend on how inventory the old distributor has in its warehouse. Believe it or not, there are a lot of cases of rum in distribution warehouses that aren't being represented to retailers.
But that's another story.

Erik, thanks for the info on that. I'll check 'em out. Probably take a while to get here to little ol' Loveland.
