Default Local liquor store in LA still has the Cruzan 2 year bottles of light & dark

I'm not sure if this is a common thing or not, but a local liquor store here had multiple bottles of the old 2 year aged formulation of both of Cruzan's base rums. They were on sale for $12.95 or so. The guy there said they had been sitting on the shelf for almost 4 years without selling much at all.

So is it fairly common to still see these around or not anymore? I guess the change over to the 14 month wasn't too long ago, so maybe these are still everywhere (hadn't seen them up in Portland though). I said what the hell since they aren't too expensive and picked up a bottle of the light.

I still see the last of the two years olds from time to time and usually grab them. Often, they are behind the newer bottles, so root around and look toward the back of the shelf. I've recently scored some 1.75 liters of 2 year old dark for about $20 each, an excellent value. Also found Appleton Special 1.75 liter bottles for $20, and Botran Anejo 1.75 liter bottles for $13.95!

We have our next order in for Cruzan, so looking forward to seeing what we will receive here (a bit like Xmas!!). Sometimes we are used as a dumping ground by other brands, who want to get rid of old stock.

Did you at least have the good fortune of getting the older ones with the big "2" on the front label for the age statement?

We only got in the Coconut and a couple of other flavours. The old 2YO doesn't sell well here. I think I am our best customer!! Coconut rum is real big here as in many islands. It far out sells anything else Cruzan produce. Can I smell a Bambarra Coconut coming this way soon????
