Unfortunately Ive only had Bacardi (Gasoline). I have had Stroh 80 and love that.

What is the significance of 151 anyways? Why not 150? Anybody know?

Not 151, but overproofs; the El Dorado, Lemon Hart and JW&N are 3 of my faves.

I have not tried the El Dorado overproofs but do like the Lemonhart 151 that I have.

Me too on the Lemon Hart 151 Demerara. Good stuff.

The Wray & Nephew overproof tastes pretty harsh to me. Good for making infusions and liqueurs though. I've used it to make pimento dram.

Has anyone tried any of the following overproof rums?

Rum Palerma Red Label 151 - Aruba
Blackbeard's Overproof - Grand Cayman
Tortuga 151 - Grand Cayman
Sunset 169 - St. Vincent
Ron Cortez 151 - Panama
Brugal 151 - Dominican Republic
Lamb's Navy 151 - Canada

Was very close to buy the El Dorado 151 today but decided to check here first, but Paul you seem to like it, maybe I should give it a try. Does it give any sort of flavor to the drink?

It certainly does. At that proof the demerara flavours are carried well and explode when you cut water it down. Just sipping on some now and it's very fruity with cocoa undertones and punch in the face demerara richness.

Yum......hic

We've got the above - none of which I'd recommend particularly. I've been persuaded to taste the El Dorado Overproof this afternoon, but not any of these at the moment.
