Never heard of it before. I see some of the other products from Destileria Huasteco Potosi won some medals in Tampa this year. The company in Mexico that distributes it is San Emeterio. Macondo Imports of Pittsburgh, Pa., is listed as the USA distributor. Macondo's website has been under construction since October, 2007. It is possible to find their telephone number though.

I may be mistaken on the price. I think this quote was in pesos. This rum may be more like $17.19. The peso is running about 10.76 per dollar.

The bottle looks interesting, sort of like a cross combination between Drambuie, Admiral Rodney and Barcelo Imperial.
Btw, where did you get that image? Presspack?

That would be about right. I saw it listed on a Mexican wine vendor site for just over 1,000 pesos for six bottles.

ron potosi
Good picture Robert! I just got back from Cancun and brought back everthing wet with a rum smell. The largest and best store there is La Europa and they did not have this available. Casa Bacardi reserve 8 year in similar bottle was only $19.00 Look forward to making one of your Miami tastings.

Well not exactly.
i have had Ron Potosi Aсejo, i think it is from the same 'house', but this is an younger iteration. It is 'ok'; smelled nice-- dark sugar, carmelized honey-- and then it tries to carry through on the palate, but abruptly drops off at mid-palate leaving expectations dashed, and then finishing with boozey warmth-- not unpleasant at all, but not my idea of a $20 rum. It would make a nice Hot Buttered Rum, or a good (dirty) Snow White Cocktail.
