I'd like to see overall ranking numbers -- or some sense of which rums were most appreciated by the esteemed group of judges.

I'm concerned that rum companies will believe that a gold award at the Miami festival will mean little or nothing. Any other judges have that feeling?
I'd have to agree. There were rums on this list that I don't feel deserved any awards - the Don Q Mojito being an obvious one!! There also look like far too many gold awards. I only gave 2-3 golds per category - picking out the very best...

I was picky about my gold awards also, and gave more silver and bronze. I also had some that I did not award a medal to. The rums should be listed by category in the results, not by medal. That would help.

The DM 5+5 and 5+3 were one of the surprises of the judging. Excellent rums. I will add the Mount Gay 1703 to the shelf as soon as it becomes available.

I too was VERY picky about my golds. In fact I think I gave 4 or 5 in total. I know there was at least 2 rums that medaled that I personally gave 10 out of 100. So like a few other judges I am too, confused. I have been asked by a rum company over here in the UK what were the categories ?

I also would like to take a minute to say how great it was to meet all the players from across the pond, Ian, Paul , Ben and everyone else. The laughter was constant, and thier experience, expertise, and opinions about our favorite spirit was excellent. I look forward to seeing them all again in the future.

Cheers fella! Of course we were always laughing - we didn't believe our luck as a bunch of London boys, in unremitting sunshine, being fed great booze 24/7!!!

After the manner in which we're been hosted in London for the past two years by Ian, Ben, Paul and Rikki, keeping the Brits well sauced for a week was the least we could do to repay the favor. It's not often enough that we, in the virtual rum tribe, get a change to carouse and hang out in person. We cherish those opportunities. Thanks to all who participated in the competition and the Rum Renaissance event.
