Default "Cheap" El Dorado 25

If any of you are looking to splurge on a big ticket rum that's worth the price, I found this website selling ED 25 for $259.99. I have never seen this rum for less than $300+.

It is still very big money, but this rum really is fantastic and I think it's about as cheap as its going to get.

BTW - this website also has the 4L British Royal Navy Imperial Rum for $2999.99 if you're really in a spending mood - but just remember to share it with the guy who pointed it out..

That's the best price I've seen on that rum anywhere. Shoppers Vineyard is one the preferred online stores here at the Ministry.

OK, so here is the question of the millennia: Is it worth it? We have read – and we have dreamed. We (some of us) have tasted ED15 at $50 bucks a bottle. Sometimes we plunk down that Ulysses simply because, well, its darn good stuff.

We can buy any number of yummy, yummies for 10% of what they are asking for the 25 year-old. Is it ED25 10x better? Is the ED25 five-or-six times more delicious than the ED15?

So here I am, a working class stiff. I want a treat. I just happen to have $300 burning a hole in my pocket (hey, I can dream). Do I take my family of four to Disney for a day? Do I hit the nearest Ruth’s Chris and treat them to a filet? Do I buy this bottle of El Dorado 25 and … see for myself what I’ve been missing? If money were no object should I, would I?

I want to taste this awe-inspiring nectar – but 3 beans is a lot of dough.

From you lucky few who have sipped this : your sage advice is needed : should we fork over the ferrymen’s pence?

Go to a real steak house not Ruth's Chris? It may be because I'm from Chicago, the hog butcher to the world, but I always viewed Ruth's Chris as a very overpriced, underqualitied steak house.

What he said.

With only about 3,000 bottles out there, I would be surprised if it got any cheaper...but if it does you'll have more competition 'cause I'll snap up another one.

When I brought my ED25 home and started opening it, my wife (who also likes her spirits) thought I was certifiable for spending that much on one bottle - I never knew there were that many words synonymous with "idiot".

However, once she tasted it, her eyes opened wide and in her words she "withdrew all previous comments"..

If it makes it any easier to swallow, I checked with my local watering hole that serves ED rums and had them ask about an ED 25. The distributor said the price would be right around $250 "if he could get one" - and that's wholesale.

I'll be getting my hands on the entire line of ED rums within the next 2 weeks, which includes the 25 year. When I get it in, Ill let you know if its worth shelling out the bucks for.

Much appreciated RBP. I look forward to your comparison of those Guyanese beverages.

Me too..i have just tasted the 21year..and i find it to be similar to the 15 year but more refined and without that "smoky punch" that the 15 year has. Well, both are outstanding!
