Default 8 year old mixing rums

This might be a funny post but I think 8 year olds are my 'sweet spot' for mixing rums.

I started with Myers, Blackwell, Appleton Special, the VX, the 8 & the 12 year. I determined my faves in certain cocktails, Appleton 8 seemed to work in most situations - not to young & unrefined or old & woody.

I did the same with Demeraras & Puerto Rican rums. El Dorado 8 & Bacardi 8 are great mixing rums.

These 3 are also pleasantly sippable too IMO. I also enjoy Angostura 1919 (an 8 year).

Im not passing over cheaper or younger rums (I prefer Plantation 5 Barbados or Mount Gay Eclipse over Mount Gay XO), making a good drink with the cheap stuff is preferable. Price is always a factor, I aim to try before I buy.

What other 8 year old rums to people know of?

PS

Barbancourt 5 Star (an 8 year) is on my shopping list subject to a bit more research.

Trois Rivieres 8 year (http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-7158.aspx). I have tried this & liked it but consider it way beyond the price point for mixing.
