Default D.O.C And A.O.C Laws controling rum

I recently noticed on a few bottles of rum that we have in the bar are marked: Appellation d’origine contrфlйe like french wines from aoc areas also i have some bottles that are marked with d.o.c like the spannish contolled wine areas. i have been trying to find online what a doc or an aoc rum or rhum has to follow before it gets these labels, and which of the islands have these grading systems.

does anyone know anything about this?

Welcome to the forums discobadger. In regards to AOC, Appelation d’Origine Contrфlйeonly the rhums from Martinique have the AOC designation.
DOC is used in a few other countries/islands which designate a country of origin.

I hope this helps.

When you have a few minutes please go to the Introduction section and introduce yourself.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.

Welcome discobadger. I look forward to welcoming you formally in the Introductions forum as Ed has highlighted.

In the meantime, finding the exacting requirements for rum production in certain European Countries which endorse such can be difficult sometimes. Especially in English.

If you are not already familiar with the Italian D.O.C. in regards to wine, this Link provides provides a basic tutorial on the grades which also applies to spirits.

Spain uses the term D.O. amongst others for wine and spirits. This Link provides an overall view.

If you spend some time researching the web you will probably find what you are looking for. When I get the time, I will do a little digging and see if I can come up with something of value in English for you and the other members here who share your wonderful interest.
