which is the better bottle???
Trying to decide which of these bottles to give as a gift and which to keep..
In my one hand, I have a 1L bottle of BRUGAL Extra Viejo (Grand Reserva Familiar)......... I had a good fill of BRUGAL VIEJO in Punta Cana DR this past week.... I hear from thoughs that know, that this is a good bottle of rum.
in my other hand, I have a 750ml bottle of Ron Flor de Cana centenario slow aged rum 12 years...... I havent tasted it yet, its from Nicaragua. and all though I liked aged rum, the age dont always make it the best rum...
What do you think?????????

Might depend on who the gift is for...
I would prefer the Flor de Cana - 12yr.

I agree that FdeC 12 is a slightly better rum, BUT it is widely available in Canada and you could pick one up anytime if you felt the urge to try it. The Brugal EV on the other hand, is not available anywhere in Canada(last time I checked). I think in Ontario you can get the Brugal Carta Dorada, but it's not even close to be in the same league.
IMHO.

I'd keep the Dominican based on rarity/availability and buy your own FDC 12 later.
*If the person you are gifting knows their rum and knows what is available in Onterrible (er, Ontario ), he may appreciate the DR rum more...but if they are lay in terms of rum, the FDC is a give away--no brainer.

The Flor de Cana is a much better rum in my opinion, a good sipper. I only use the Brugal as a mixer.

Im afraid we are only doing business in BC and Alberta at the moment.
If you know of an importer in NB I can connect them to the right people at Mardi SA.
The closest source for you guys out there is Mas Spirits NYC.

I find the Brugal EV a very able sipper, albeit with a couple cubes of ice.
