HI All,

I will be travelling to Mexico in 6 weeks (Cancun). Does anyone have any good suggestions for Mexican rums? I looked through the rum index and nothing jumped out as a clear must buy. Has anyone been to Cancun lately and do you recall if their dutyfree has a good selection of rum? We were there a few years ago, but I wasnt looking for rum. I remember the duty free was big.

Unless someone knows any local places to get rum...if so, I am all ears.

I've tried two that I really like. The Rum Mocambo Art Edition 20 year old product is now available and the Porfidio Single Barrel Anejo Rum with a palm tree in the bottle.

You might try the Bacardi Solera 1873, which I believe is made in Mexico.

You'll also find Flor de Cana rums in Mexico, which are quite nice. You might find some Zacapa if you look in the tourist or duty free areas.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.

I was in Cancun in 2004 and the rum selection was poor. However I was in Cozumel in 2007 and noticed that the rum selections in the duty free stores have increased and were pretty good. Some examples were Flor de Cana, Botran, Zacapa, El Dorado, D' I think the duty free stores will be your best bet.
