Default Good selection AND ships

Unfortunately very little rum is distibuted to my home state...Minnesota. Anyone know of a store that has a good selection and ships for a reasonable amount? I'm looking for stuff like Zaya, Botran, Pampero, etc...

seabass - I am in your fine Twin Cities tonight as I write. I ventured out today and hit two liquor stores. One, surprisingly good, the other, eh.

Both in Saint Paul, not far from the Whole Foods Market (where I ducked in and reloaded on my favorite Blue Sky Organic Ginger Ale sweetened with cane juice).

Anyway, I didn't find high-high end sippers in abundance, but I found some nice rums, and some surprising values. You should check these out.

The "good" store - Thomas Spirits at 1941 Grand Avenue, St Paul.

Goslings Black Seal 750mL for $13.99 (that's a good price)!
Flor de Cana 4 year and 7 year in stock. 7 year at $18.89, pretty good price.
Mount Gay Eclipse (decent mixer), Mount Gay Sugar Cane Rum at $13.89 a good value!
Sailor Jerry (Adam Kanter, thinking of you)! $16-$17 a tad high.
Pyrat Pistol in the 375mL bottle, Pyrate XO Reserve about $28 (not bad).
Pussers British Navy Rum
Cruzan Light 2 year (good mixer, $10.39 a liter!!!! A bargain)
Cruzan Estate Dark 2 year (not bad, also $10.39 a liter!!! - I bought one)!
Brugal Gold $11.50 decent mixer.
Tortuga Gold (mixer) 1 liter, $17 (not bad price for a liter)
Applteton's - Special (mixer), VX, Reserve, 12 year.
Three different of the Plantation Reserve rums (not sure which, all $28-$32 per bottle).

I would say those are not bad choices - probably the Pyrat, some Appleton and some Plantation are the only sippers, but this is not a bad selection of rum!!!

Do yourself a favor - trek over there, get the Goslings Black Seal on the cheap, roll down the street to Whole Foods, get a six pack of BLue Sky Ginger Ale, grab a lime, go home, relax and prepare to enjoy a nice taste!

Marshall Liquors (not far away over on Marshall Ave) not as good a selection, a lot of low low end rums there. The only thing of interest they had was Coruba and it was $17.99 which is average to high side in price. They also carried the Appletons and Pyrat XO.

I might stop in a few more places this week.

Thanks for the report. I might have to search for the FDC 7 year.

I was really tempted to grab that 7 year. I bought the 5 year on Ed's recommendation specific to mixing with Ginger Ale, and it was a dead on hit! I like FdC rums, and thought about grabbing that 7 year, but that Cruzan Estate Dark in a whole 1 litre bottle... for only $10.39!!!!! Well, I just couldn't pass that up!

P.S. "Good Selection and Ships" Try Internet Wine and Spirits on the net. They are in Illinois outside of St Louis, and they have a pretty decent selection. Some stuff is priced pretty well, other stuff - not so much.

I think it is www.internetwines.com

Seabass - almost forgot... Metusalem Gran Reserva, also at Thomas Spirits. And that's a sipper.

Check the homepage for online stores. Binny's is one that I have used,
they are very good.
