Default Holiday Gift Packs

Its that time of year again where the marketers try to capture our gift giving dollar by enticing us with gift packs. My local store has a nice Zaya set with a couple of nice glasses with the Zaya logo on them. Nice to get a little extra for your $40. I've never had Zaya and was eyeballing this till I read the thread on vanilla rum taste and got turned off. I also spotted a Cruzan white with a nice mixing spoon and muddler.

What rum gift packs have you seen?

Hey DJM, don't base an opinion on that of a cranky old bugger in the Yukon. You never know until you try something. I don't mix, so I hate it. But it occurs to me that if you've got a real good recipe for eggnog it might be great. Its just like cooking eh?

A store I frequent In Niagara Falls has about 50 or so different sets. I would imagine this is because many Canadians cross the boarder and the price for liquor is much cheaper and the Canadians may want a gift to bring back. What better than a bottle and some other glass or bar ware in a box. The gift sets are also cheaper than just the single bottle at the same store. I recently purchased a Barbancourt set, 10 Cane set, and a Zacapa set. The Barbancourt had 1 glass the others had 2 sets. There are others I am tempted to buy but I stick with the same glass for my tastings so this is not really needed.

Of those two gift sets I would buy the Cruzan white with the muddler over the Zaya in a heart beat. Cheaper too. But taste is a subjective thing and obviously Zaya sells so someone must like it. I got a free Cruzan baseball cap with a bottle of Cruzan once.

I would enjoy having the Zaya gift set. So far it is unavailable in Ohio, so if anyone would be willing to ship me one I'd be most appreciative. Lmk...

There are a few stacks of them in A shop in Orchard Park south of Buffalo. I can't ship to Ohio though or I could lose my license.

Lol! Ok, I appreciate the reply. .

Perhaps they'll show up in-state. If not, maybe some of my cigar buddies from other parts can hook me up.

I've no issues with vanilla flavored rum. I like the Brinley's Vanilla Rum. My issue is with the price. I can get the Brinley's for $20, the Zaya is $40. I also think if a rum has vanilla added or has a strong taste of vanilla it should be labeled as such.
