While I regularly buy handles (1.75 L bottles) for their economy, I find fifths (750 mL bottles) much more manageable. In addition, storing rum in bottles closer to the amount of rum. Thus, while I buy handles, I use about five servings of rum, then I transfer half the remaining rum (750 mL) to a fifth of the appropriate label, and the remainder to another 750 mL bottle. That way the least amount of rum oxidizes at a time, and it's the easiest way to handle your handle.
Cheers. - S

Man, I guess I have it really good down here, I can get Pyrat Reserve XO for $20 a bottle at my local spirit retailer (liquor store just doesn't sound right)

At lest one internet store has El Dorado 15 year for $25. An excellent sipper for sure. The 12 isn't bad and I think makes a better mixer and it's $20 on the web.

Who would that be? El Dorado 15 is $50 here, so I'd be willing to check if they're able to ship to me or not.

Here ya go. (B21 wines)

http://www.b-21.com/prodinfo.asp?num...OAE&variation=

Also check out Hi Time Wine - always competitive on price and great helpful staff if you call.

Generally 4 or more bottles at a time makes the shipping very reasonable.

BTW my local store stocked up on the new Zaya and is blowing them out for $20. I haven't had it yet but I hear it is a good sipper.

Really, primate? I got my bottle for $35 in Massachusetts which is dependably about 7% higher than Illinois (probably tax...).

You guys in the States enjoy very low prices for your rum!

Most of you would have heart attacks if you saw the prices we had to pay in the UK!

scribe - that's what it runs where I live in Central Illinois. It is probably a bit less in the Chicago Metro area.
