How did things go? Were there any that stood head and shoulders above the rest? Let us know what he said - I hope it was all positive!

It went really well, we had a little party and he was very pleased with all the gifts. We did have a little tasting. He was familiar with some of them but there were a few new tastes in the bunch.

I had never had rum by itself/on ice before and I was surprised. It was nowhere near as harsh as I was expecting. The few times I tried Scotch neat I found it a bit overwhelming and the taste unappealing. But the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva was really the standout, it was a pleasure to gently sip it. It smelled of vanilla, and the taste was rich and hinted at sweetness without really being sweet. The flavors and smells were restrained enough that you could sense a lot of different things at once. Like a five piece jazz band playing where you can pick out each instrument versus something like bourbon which has so much aroma it's more like an orchestra all hitting "pow" on a crescendo and you can't pick anyone out. Definitely something that stands on its own if I was ever in the mood for a serious drink. The way Manchester United's season is going I just might be!

Thanks for the help guys! Job done.
