New Rum Lover From Canada
Hello Ed and Honourable Fellow Members!
Several years ago I read the book "An Embarrassment of Mangoes" which told about Ed, the Minister of Rum. I assume this is the same Ed. I have always preferred rum and grow to love it more every year.
Recently I was telling some friends about what I read about Ed in the book and that it sounds like a nice semi-retirement life for me. So it was on my mind, I googled it, and here I am!
I know very little about rum but have decided to start learning now. What else to do during a pandemic?
Cheers!
Geoff

H'lo from Canada
Hey folks, we don't get as much good, non-dosed rum as I'd like up here in Toronto, Canada, but there's a growing group of enthusiastic rum drinkers here that I'm proud to be part of. Personally enjoy the Foursquare products, and am excited to learn more here. If only we had access to more, better rum!

Sailing, Rum and Fun
I'm a young (50) sailor planning on cruising in the near future once the kids have been booted out of the house and retirement is permitted. I came upon this site while reading a book about some sailors in the Caribbean who came upon Ed Hamilton in an anchorage in Grenada. As I was reading that book, they mentioned the Guide to Rums of the Eastern Caribbean which I decided I had to have. So I spent more on a book on ebay than I've spent on a book since I was in college. I've just started reading it, and loving it. I have a particular fancy for the art of distilling and may or may not have practiced it off and on over the years. I'm looking forward to learning more about one of my favorite spirirts.

Whisky lover joins Ministry of Rum....
I'm 80 years old and, as a true Scotsman, have spent a lifetime with my nose in a Whisky bottle. I knew zero about Rum except my mother soaked the pudding with it at Christmas before putting the match to it! Now I may not have had a background in Rum but a Scotsman knows a good investment opportunity when he sees it and when I was invited into the foundational group to launch Bruno Mars venture into the world of spirits, I jumped at the chance. I haven't turned my back on Whisky but his 'Chocolate Rum' on the rocks is my second most favourite tipple...!

California Rum Lover Looking for Recipes
I found my way to this site looking for drinks that call for Velvet Falernum and went down the rabbit hole. While looking in the Gift Shop, the recommendation was to join the Forum, so here I am. So far, there's been some great reading and I've learned a lot.
Stay safe everyone, and cheers to a better year.

Rum lover and collector - looking to expand knowledge and collection…
Hello! I’ve always loved rum, since I was 17 and visited the Virgin Islands. With so many profiles - it is easy to try and collect a lot. I’ve been a hairdresser for 34 years, and I also run bar in a small private club in Las Vegas. I have an extensive collection of bottles at home, my husband is into bourbon - I am definitely into rum. Thank you for including me in your forum.
