We've now launched a range of real cocktails in a bottle of which we're very proud.

West Eleven Cocktails are a labour of love. We were approached by a rich entrepreneur who set us a fascinating brief 9 months ago; Create a range of cocktails that are as good as you can get in any bar that would be available in bottles for anyone to drink at home or out with friends.

We've spent the last 9 months refining this concept. We started with our favourite classic cocktails (with a major rum bias!!!). Daiquiri, Mojito, Mai Tai, Bramble, Collins and the Cosmo. We stayed really true to the original recipes and ingredients - the investor from the start made it clear that if they weren't exceptional they would never go into production. First we sourced the best spirits - for the Mai Tai we trialled nearly a hundred different Jamaican rums before settling on the aged blend we wanted. The Mojito needed Cuban rum but unable to lay our hands on significant Cuban stocks, we blended a Cuban/PR rum - 20%/80% to get the required bite. All the other cocktails had a similar exhaustive search, buying spirits straight from the distilleries.

The cocktails have been contemporized by using fresh modern juices, all natural, no preservatives, only flash pasteurized to give us a range of 5 cocktails with a 6th to come later in the year.

So we've just launched in the UK with;

Passion Fruit Mai Tai

A Classic Mojito

Blueberry Bramble

Pomegranate Cosmo

A beautifully refreshing Elderflower Collins

With a Mango Daiquiri to come.

The guys who come to London will be urged to taste them when they come our way and I hope when we expand, the rest of you will too. I'll be sending samples to selected friends so I'll check a few of you for postal addresses soon. They're not for the super advanced conneisseurs but we're damn proud of them. It's been a real blast putting them together for sure

Robert, You must have been watching an old rerun of the USA TV program "Honey West" starring Anne Francis, when you read Paul's post. The Emma Peel of USA TV. She was all cashmere sweater and leather mini-skirt, with pet Ocelots..

Congratulations, I get inquiries from people almost every week that want to make something new with real ingredients but in the end it's a lot tougher than you might think. I've yet to try anything with lime in it that tastes anywhere as good as real lime. Fortunately for you, the UK is a lot easier to distribute alcoholic products compared to the US, where each state can be like dealing with a new country. Then you have to deal with a distributor in each of the markets so it can easily take several months for a product to go from the production line to a store shelf, which is a real problem when dealing with fresh ingredients.
