What is your Favorite Rum Cocktail - #1
I am sure there are similar threads but thought I would start a new one. Having a very nice rum cocktail tonight and made me think of what is my favorite. As it turns out, not the one I am drinking. Wanted something new.
For the one I am drinking, it is a " French Tear". Stroh spiced rum, Grand Marnier and pineapple juice. Very nice drink served in a martini glass.
For my favorite rum cocktail. It has to be a traditional Bermudian "Rum Swizzle" made with Black Seal. I love the drink and island. Second to this is a Mai Tai - very good with El Dorado 12 year old.

I have seen a number of recipes. What is yours?

Mine is...
1oz Goslings Back Seal
1oz Mount Gay Eclipse (experiment with different rums here)
1 1/2 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
1 1/2 oz fresh pineapple juice
3/4 oz grenadine
1/2 oz lime juice
2 dash Angostura bitters
Several variations I guess but this is very close to the Goslings recipe. I did get a version containing a small splash of apricot brandy once in Bermuda and like the variation.
I just picked up a bottle of Stirrings Grenadine which makes for a better drink. Very good and actually made with real pomegranate juice as it should.
Falernum I think might be used more instead of the grenadine but is hard to find any in Toronto.

I think my favorite is probably the mojito. The sweet, the sour, the strong, the weak...it's got everything. It's utterly perfect on a hot summer day.

I enjoy a ti punch a lot, but my favorite all time rum cocktail has to be . . . the one in my glass.

1 - a well made Mai Tai..with crushed ice.
2 - a Ti Punch
3 - everything else as long as its well constructed cocktails, preferably tropical.
