If you like the Knob Creek Small Batch...you will really like the Knob Creek Single Barrel at 120proof.

My brother-in-law introduced me to Forty Creek... I was pleasantly surprised. I also understand it's not all that pricey.

Widely available in the US, don't know about other parts of the World, Old Grand Dad 114 proof is a proven performer in the higher proof category.

I have not tried the Knob Creek Single Barrel. How does it compare with Bookers? I love Bookers on the rocks with with a Monte Cristo #2 cigar, pure heaven. Bookers is barrel strength, uncut, and unfiltered right from the barrel.

Both are single barrel so both will have some variation from barrel to barrel. I have had both Bookers and Knob Creek Single Barrel that were just meh. And have had excellent bottles of both. I prefer the Knob but YMMV.

Just tried the new Angel Envy Rye finished in Rum Barrels. It is a fresh baked pineapple upside down gingerbread cake in a bottle. It's delicious and very heavily influence by the Rum. If you love Rum and like whiskey you should definitely try it.

The original Angel's Envy has been around here for a little while, so I recently picked up a bottle. I am intrigued by the rye, but would also like to get a bottle of the cask strength "original."

I like whisky / whiskey!

Being a UK person as well, PM me if you like.

Like you, I also brought lots at once, my advice is:

1) Enjoy what you've brought, there's no rush!
I don't always follow this advice. Compare what you've got in different ways (e.g. neat, with ice, in cocktails)

2) Head to the local pubs & try what they have on offer.
Local Wetherspoons pubs have a good selection of bourbon & city bars might have more. Scotch is easy to come by in pubs & some shops will do tasters.

I quite like JD Honey but it is a bit sweet, add some ice & bitters if you like Old Fashioneds.

Jim Beam Red Stag is a bit naff IMO, low on stand out favour - shame because I love black cherries!

I recommend Woodford Reserve, it works for me

Seeing as this is a rum forum I also recommend Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask - scotch finished in a rum barrel... its a good twist!
