El Dorado 8 Year.
I did a tasting with the 5 and 12 and was reminded just how great these lesser aged EDs are, even compared to my go to, the 15.
It's a terrific rum that fits neatly between the 5 and 12 profile-wise. It was interesting noting how close the color of the three are. I am not sure if it was my imagination or not but I thought there was actually a very slight darkening as the age increased. If so, it's subtle.
I have to admit I got carried away and did the 15, 21, and 25 afterwards. ;-)
I think it's safe to say that at his point, El Dorado makes my favorite rums.

Hmm...picked up a Fluor de Cana 21 (which I have heard is not really a 21 year old but a "rum for the 21st century"). I've been stalking it for six months and finally pounced, having failed to find any other bottle anywhere else in this city...it may even be, as the salesman said, one of the few left around these parts.
Can't wait to try it.

I have not bought a bottle of rum for over a year. The reason is simple - I've got too much and she won't let me buy any more. The last one I bought was a Zacapa XO.
I'm still allowed to buy Single Malts and Cognacs/Armagnacs though as I don't have too many of those...yet!

Just picked up :
Angostura 1919
Westerhall Plantation Rum
La Favorite Rhum Agricole Vieux
The Lash
Oronoco Rum Reserva
An odd grouping to be sure.
Those were the only rums in the store that I did not already have.

Hmm. Thick fingers. Hope that didn't get posted twice.
Most recent purchase: more Old Sam. Cause I'm loyal and I love it.
Current supply: Screech for when I need a warm up quick.
Havana Club 7 yo when I want something kinda special.
Goslings Black Seal in hopes that I can duplicate a Dark 'n' Stormy that I had a while back. (No success yet- any ideas on how to tone down the spicyness of the ginger beer?)
In the future? I'm getting my son to check pricing on Rhum Clement in Calgary. Maybe he'll bring me some for Christmas.
