Default Do you finish the bottle?

I'm new to rum and I'm slowly expanding what I have in my liquor cabinet. I started with a bottle of Mount Gay XO and finished that off. But now that I'm getting more bottles, I'll need to find a better place for my bottles. I now have 5 or 6 partially empty bottles in that cabinet.

I know there's folks on here that collect bottles of rum. But as a standard practice, do you folks get a bottle and finish it off prior to getting another bottle to try? Or do you get a bottle, try it and put it in your cabinet to enjoy later. Get another new bottle. Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Just curious how many different bottles you guys have in your cabinet. I've only been at this for a couple of months and I have several partially consumed bottles. I can just image how it will be in a couple of years.

For me it depends on availability. If its stocked by YLCB I'll empty it and get another the next day. If I got it somewhere else, like Alberta, BC, Alaska or (gasp) Newfoundland, I'm a little more careful.
The Yukon has started stocking some really good stuff on a trial basis, and I'm doing my best to make sure its worth their while.
I was in Ireland in 2010 and brought back some old Bushwhackers. And that's when I decided I liked rum better. Now I've got about 40 different rums, enough that my family gave me a re-purposed TV cabinet that happened to match an antique china cabinet that my wife inherited.
I guess my main problem is that I have trouble making decisions. So, faced with a choice of forty, I empty Old Sam, Goslings and Screech with disturbing frequency.
Tonight I just happen to have emptied a Havana Club 7yo.
Postscript: last night I emptied a Matusalem. Tomorrow I might crack one of my Diplomaticos.
Oh Jeez! Another decision.
Never pass a bar with your name on it.

Default how many bottles open

Most of the time i have 1 bottle of rum open and 1 bottle of whisk(e)y.
Because i think that from te moment a bottle is open its slowly starten to get lesser quality cause oxidation. But i,m not an expert so i might be wrong about that.
And i think that every rum has its own taste profile and so i never compare rums but i buy the ones i like and open them one by one.
