Default Blackheart

So as new member what are your opinions on BlackHeart Spiced Rum. (besides the hot pirate chic on the label!!)

I thought it was OK as a mixer. I'd stick with Sailor Jerry. Its a really good mixer and its actually pretty decent straight.

There is an older Blackheart thread here which might be of interest.

I am a sucker for spiced rums - I used to love Kuya and find the
Castillo Fusion to be a tasty alternative. I will try just about any
offering but have to say that Blackheart is just undrinkable to
me. I wanted to like it as I enjoy Heaven Hill Whiskey products
but even with the terrific rebate offered when it first came out,
I just couldn't warm up to this stuff. I tried two bottles bought
from different stores but there was something about it that just
tasted a bit off to me. Maybe the spices they used - I dunno.
In the end I couldn't bring myself to dump it so I used it as a
mixer with coke and something else just to make it tolerable.

It is a reasonably priced bottle (especially if the rebate is still
going!) and I wish I enjoyed it but I have to pass on this one.
