Default Scotch to Rum

Hi... names Young

been drinking scotch for a while...still am

and the rum that made me explore into the world of rum is Diplomatic Reserva Exclusiva. Such a smooth rum to sip on.

Any reasonably-priced scotches you would recommend for a rum drinker?

Scotch is one of those "theres 2 kinds of people" questions. It's all about the amount of smokey taste you can tolerate in your beverage. I have a couple of bottles that I practically have to fan the air when I haul them out for my scotch drinking guests. Stay away from Talisker unless you like the taste of a brushfire. My brother in law drinks a blended scotch I find pretty accessible for a guy who's basically not a scotch drinker. It's J&B Rare. Very smooth! However, my real opinion is, to heck with that Scotch stuff, try Bullet Rye if you're looking to branch out.

Thanks for taking the time to join the rum forums, do you work for Diageo? After reading your other posts, it seems you are more a Diageo fan than a rum fan.

When I dream up a better job, I'm going to take it. In the meantime, the research continues.
