Opened it last night, and Tabuzak, you were right. One of the best rums I have ever tried.

Mount Gay Black Barrel.

Not, not Mount Gay Black, but Mount Gay Black Barrel. I found it in a BevMo in San Jose this week. Searching the web doesn't yield very much... It appears to have been released on Tuesday or Wednesday from near as I can tell.

Got a coworker to bring me back a bottle of Bermudez Anejo Selecto from the DR. It was only $7 and it's super smooth. Good stuff.

I was in Mexico last week, so I re-stocked my Mexican inventory: Mocambo 20 Art Edition, Mocambo 15, Mocambo Pistol 10 years, D'Aristi 10 years, and a Brugal Extra Viejo at the Cancun airport.

The selection at the airport was as bad as ever, there were ads for Flor de Cana but no bottles in stock. Zacapa 23 was there but overpriced, and the usual Bacardi - Havana Club - Brugal.

I tried to find the Europea location in Playa del Carmen but to no avail. According to their website the selection looks good, it'll be for next time.

Got to try the Ron Varadero 15yo and the Caney 12yo this past weekend, both were outstanding sipping rums, but the 15yo Ron Varadero was exceptional. Both were silky smooth.

For those able to go to Cuba, these are both well worth the $85Cdn. The Caney may be hard to source.

How many bottles are you allowed to take out of Cuba and into Canada?

I do not believe there's any limit on what you can take out, and you're allowed to bring in 1.15L to Canada without paying duty. When I went to Cuba a few years back I came back with 6 bottles of rum. I declared all of it and I ended up paying ~$24CAD in taxes.
