Well, I cracked open the Sailor Jerry for the first time tonight... Pretty heavy on the caramel I think which is just fine by me. I tried it neat before I mixed it in my nog and my goodness - kinda grabs you by the boo boo! Anyway, my first impression was a good one and it worked quite well in my nog and while I don't see myself sipping it, it will certainly provide a tasty belt when I come inside from shoveling the driveway.

I found a great bar in Victoria tonight.
I had Banks White, Bundaberg Reserve and Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros.

Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva. - Just cracked open my first bottle of this. Maybe it's because I'm still very new to rum and spirits in general but this is one that I find that adding a couple cubes of ice makes a significant difference. Sure, I understand that this might be true with a lot (maybe most) spirits but with this one I find a little ice just makes it that much more wonderful. I'm currently sipping it while enjoying some home made almond bark. - I'm a happy guy.

No disrespect to RL Seale intended because I love Doorly's but I have to agree with you on both counts. Right now I'm loving RMGR as much as ED12 and that's saying a lot. Along with ED12, this is only the second rum I've had that I prefer (marginally) over MGXO which again says a lot because I just love that one too.

I had the most over the top Corn 'n' Oil at Pouring Ribbons last night.

For "black strap rum" they combine Plantation dark and three stars rums, black strap molasses and apple cider. The falernum is house-made and unique.

Cheers!

I haven't had the pleasure yet with the 15. To date, I've yet to spend over 45 bucks on a bottle. Some of the more expensive purchases I'm saving for cross-border shopping.

I don't have many options for sampling where I am.
