@Ben

Bought it in California. I knew it was a rare bottle ( 3000 bottles only ). If I remember well, it was the REDONDO BEACH totalwines&more.

I heard a lot about this Bourbon! Wanted to grab one too but I had like 9 bottles already ... if you know a little about the Taxes in Canada, you understand that I payed my life.

Wife picked me up a bottle of Ron Zacapa 23 at duty free, thought she would only bring me grey dress socks from her PA shopping trip!

Made my annual pilgrimage to Hi Time Wine's 10% off sale. It's a considerable drive, so I save up for the event to refresh my inventory of sippers to savor in the new year.

-Plantation 20th Anniv. Barbados (4)
-Plantation Guadeloupe
-Plantation Grand Reserve (6)
-El Dorado 12 (2)

Just getting around to trying these:

-Plantation Panama
-Santa Teresa 1796
-Flor de Cana 12
-Pampero Anniversario Res. Ex.
-Neisson's Blanc (After bad experiences with Agricoles, tasting this @ Rum Fest ended my reluctance to purchase another one)
-Ron de Jeremy Spiced (also had this @ Rum Fest, and liked it, regardless of the kitschy marketing. Don Poncho's blending skills were quite evident.)

It is opened already... didnt last very long, i'm kind of a curious one!

Serious deep brown color. The nose of this rum is simply one of the best i've ever smelt! Very smooth and intense at the same time. It is just perfect. Nutmeg , cinamon, honey...Overall nose and mouth was A1. The only problem I had with it is that I find it too hot in mouth... I dont know if thats how you say it in english but I was expecting something smoother in the finish.

Nice!... I've become a big fan of the Grand Reserve (Barbados.) How does the Guadeloupe compare? - Not that I can get it here or anything.

I don't think they compare very well. They are different animals. The Plantation Guadeloupe is an aged Agricole while the Grand Reserve is made from molasses. However they both spent time in Sherry casks, so I guess that flavor profile component comes across similarly in both. But not all the Guadeloupes were cellared in Sherry casks. There were several variations, however mine was aged in Sherry Casks.

But if you can get your hands on a bottle, I highly recommend it. It really is hard to go wrong with anything from Plantation.
