Default LCBO new listings

I just received an email from the LCBO ( I had made an inquiry about why Barcelo Imperial was no longer available) and they said the following products would be offered later this year.

#209031 - Angostura 1824 Amber Rum
#225649 - Plantation Rum Barbados Aged 5 Years
#225664 - Mount Gay 1703 Old Cask Rum
#225680 - Cruzan Spiced Rum #9
#233866 - Domaine De Marquisat Artisinal White Rum
#229864 - Clement Premiere Canne Rhum

FWIW, I find this Government agency a pain in the *** to deal with, but it's nice to see they will making a few new offerings available. Apparently Imperial was a temporary listing and there are no plans to offer it again in the near future! Go figure! I guess you gotta buy it when you see it or you may never see it again.

This just goes to show the oddity of the Canadian system, because the Angostura is already in AB, and so is the Mount Gay 1703 and the Cruzan spiced. The others are not (at least, I've not seen them here yet) and may justify a visit to ON for me

I tried to get some of R.Barcelo Imperial sent to my local LCBO but was told that someone had put a hold on the last few bottles.... One store shows 1 but I'm 99% sure it's walked out the door without getting scanned out of the system.

I do think we get good prices on the El Dorado line.

Hey Mikeycanuk,

The Imperial you speak of wouldn't have been from the store in Ancaster would they? I had a friend who lives there attempt to buy the last 2 bottles but they were on "hold". I thought it was first come first served at the LCBO?

All the rum at the LCBO seem temporary...

El Dorado 8 yrs old (AWESOME), they had it for a few months till stock ran ou and now gone.

Same with Ron Bacelo (both of them), Matusalem 15yrs, etc....

Picked up on of the last El Dorado 8, you can call your local LBCO and have them transfer stock to your local store.

As for the R.Barcelo Imperial it's been Orwelled out of existence in the LCBO/Vintages listings. Maybe I'll find some on my travels this summer (Mayan Riviera/Barbados).

Always grab what you can when you can as there are no guarantees they will be available later with the LCBO eg English Harbour. Some of their delistings make no sense other than possibly not being profitable.

I am off to Puerto Rico next week and will pick up their products. I find travelling to be the best way to sample and buy various rums as the LCBO is very hit and miss. I try to buy when I see something different as there are no guarantees it will be available in the future. I often buy nore than the duty free allowance and to date have not been charged for the extra. I always tell them I am over my limit and count on them not being bothered to do the paper work!
