Definitely my three favorite rums are:
  1. Carupano Oro (12 years of aging)* (a marvel of dark, with scent of almonds; on the palate, its flavor is a mixture of oak, caramel, almond sweetness, and that characteristic touch of most distilled rums in the Sucre State region (Venezuela): a certain salty flavor.)
  2. DUSA Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva*
  3. Santa Teresa 1796 Antiguo de Solera*

(*): "Ron de Venezuela D.O.C." (Appellation d'origine contrôlée, A.O.C.)

Note: Ron Carupano, is the oldest rum distillery in Venezuela, founded in 1762 (from there I took my nickname, only modifying the letter "C", by the "K", to avoid any confusion with the brand). The second oldest distillery in the country, is Santa Teresa, created in 1796. Ron Carupano is not yet in the database of this site.
