I am hosting my fourth rum tasting event later this month and I would like to invite everybody to come.

We will be exploring the Sweeter side of Rums with the delicious Solera and Demerara rums.
Friday, June 1st @7:00pm
Esquimalt Rd. (Same location as before) details of the address will be given to everybody that is confirmed

Tickets are $25.00 each and only 15 tickets are available. Tickets will sell out as they have before in the past, so get you confirmation quick!
We will have some caribbean influenced snacks and foods to go along with these delicious rums
There will be a raffle for a great bottle of rum, tickets can be purchase the night of the event. Ticket prices are $5/each or $10/three.

Fuck Scotch! Fuck all the bars and pubs that think it's hip and trendy to have a huge selection of single malts, but only offer bottom-shelf Bacardi or Cpt. Morgan. Fuck the insidious idea that the only drink worth sipping and commenting on is fucking Scotch. Fuck it. Fuck the idea that thinking outside this Scotch prison only means adding some aged Bourbon on the shelf. Fuck it.

The annual islands edition of CBS Sunday Morning will feature a number of islands. As we all know, and CBS learned, you can't talk about the islands without dreaming so spending some time on a beach drinking rum. Which one to drink is the bigger question.

Yesterday I was interviewed for part of this segment that is scheduled to air this weekend. If you don't have a television, it will be archived on the internet shortly after it airs.

I'm on my way to Florida to meet with some producers and distributors. Next week I'll be in the Big Easy, but there's nothing easy about being in New Orleans when you're job is drinking rum. There are so many good places to go and friends to see it's hard to figure out where you should be all the time.

Waitrose have reduced the price of Angostura 1919 from £26.20 to £21.20 till 6th June 2012.

My name's Cutter and I'm a bottle jockey (10+ years) up in Hogtown (Toronto). Whilst I've pretty much always worked in hospitality, it's really only in the last several years I've started to take my craft seriously and am now in the process of fomalizing my knowledge with WSET and other certifications. Looking at spending a few more years FOH and them moving into a beverage director type position - hopefully somewhere south, hot, and sunny.

Rum is definitely my favourite hooch and I love learning about it. The biggest downside of that is being in Canada where selection is very limited - due to the gubment running everything - and the cost - we basically pay at least double what you guys do in the U.S.. So, it's a slow and expensive process. I've decided to start making more jaunts down to the Carribean and drink directly from the fount, so to speak. A much better way to spend the winters and cheaper to boot!

A big thanks to Ed for running and maintaining this site - isn't the Internet a glorious thing? :) I certainly look forward to getting to know people around here and learning from you all.

Hi everyone,

Known about this site for two years now and thought it was about time to register on the forum pages. Got introduced to the premium dark rum a few years ago and really liked the taste.

For the last year or so, I've been collecting the Plantation Single Cask series of rums from Cognac Ferrand. Whenever possible, I attend rumtasting events to try out new/untasted brands.

New here, general lover of liquor and very interested in getting exposed to some of the finer rums. I enjoy the higher ends of every other liquor I've had, but never put the cash into the best of rums, which is my favorite. I don't know why that is. I guess I've always heard about the fine Whiskeys, Brandies and Vodkas, but no one every mentioned *great* rums or sipping rums to me. So here I am!

I love the vintage old rum bottles and labels...i hope that will become a trend, to re-make those old style rum bottles, they are gorgeous - rather than the producers creating more modern style bottles and labels and actually i think i see something towards that direction with for example Smith and Cross (with the rum more than the label though) - or am i wrong???

recently purchased Cruzan blackstrap rum and found it's unique taste as a
floater on my maitai..perfect!!:)

Anyone know of a liquor store in destin area panama city that has a good rum selection or at least zacapa XO. Im from alabama and we dont have much in my state so when I go to florida I stock up.

Used to order from shoppers vineyard out of NJ (sold zacapa XO for $50 but they quit shipping liquor.

Just wanted to say Hi and express my love of rum. Was I born with it?
I'm certainly on it now, just trying out a bottle of Sailor Jerry spiced 80 proof.
Not my normal cup of tea but ok. Having grown up around scotch and bourbon
drinkers, I eventually worked out that Rum was my tipple. I handle O.P. quite well, maybe there are too many sailors in the family. I like surfing so maybe there's a connection, anyway that's how I explain my "rum breath" to the wife.
