Not that I know of, or I would have it.

To my knowledge there isn't a rum magazine yet, though I've heard rumors of a couple of people who were working on the idea. When there is such a magazine, I hope it will have real articles and be more than an advertising medium for distribution companies. On the other hand, I see forums like this one replacing printed material, though I like to hold something in my hand and read it, especially when I'm traveling, but dislike wasting the resources it takes to print, distribute and recycle? printed material.

First, a decent advertising-based publication about Cane Spirits would need a readership nationally of at least 30,000 to break even. Second, publishing monthly would be a challenge based on the very limited number of sponsors and their very limited budgets.

A more realistic endeavor would be a subscriber-funded, non-advertising newsletter with critical reviews, as well as interesting articles. It would be a challenge to start up since there is no easy way to gather the names of rum enthusiasts. Such a publication might break even with 3,000 subscribers paying $30 a year each, published every other month.

Lastly, publishers must consider whether the up-turn trend in rum interest has legs or is a passing fad.

I've looked at the numbers from a quarterly or even bi-annual basis and come up with similar numbers but since rum is sold on the world market I would be more inclined to do a subscription supported pdf file downloaded at the convenience of the subscribers. There are some new security tags which allow pdf files to be downloaded once from an ip address and wouldn't allow the document to be forwarded in the usual manner.
