Was there a post somewhere in the forum which hinted that the old bottling of El Dorado 12 (tall) is a differrent blend than the new decanter style bottling?

The newer blend of El Dorado is being packaged in a bottle which is very similar to their Special Reserve 15 Year Old Rum. The older blend was considerably lighter and the bottle was taller and more of a generic bottle.

Thanks! I brought home a bottle of the new bottle and will try it tonight. I have a few bottles of the old stashed somewhere and will compare them sometime. It was always one of my favorites.

In my tastings, I find the El Dorado 12 is now blended to please the palette of those that enjoy a sweet rum with a very easy finish, as with Zacapa 23 or Centenario Fundacion XX Anos.

Certainly, the new bottle gives the impression that El Dorado 12 is a fine rum, versus the old bottle that made it look somewhat ordinary. Barcelo Imperial also made a major upgrade to their bottle and it makes a great difference.

Has anyone seen the new packaging of Clement's Rhum Vieux and Creole Shrubb?

Packaging is a powerful tool. We taste with our nose, our mouth, our eyes and our fingers.

Never had a chance to taste the old 12. Too bad.

Robert is right. We have certain expectations when we see packaging, and it can effect our opinion. The same thing happens with cigars.
There was a tasting done in a recent Cigar mag, with and without bands, and the results were VERY interesting.

Surely we easily get seduced by nice packaging even when knowing that its not wise to judge according to the outward appearance..but how many of you haven`t at least sometime bought an unknown rum because the bottle looked so nice?

But that picture with those nice bottles and the limes..make me feel like i need a Ti Punch..:D

Wow, look at that! Is that going to be in the US market? Im not sure how I feel about that. I think its a step in the right direction for the Vieux, but the Creolle Shrubb, I think the wrapping it is in is very identifiable and well suited. Although I must say, the bottles like the cuvee homere are beautiful!
