What is the worst drink recipe you have seen?

Mine is this:

Suffering bitch

Random quantities of leftover Mai Tai, Suffering Bastard, and Pisco Sour.
A little grenadine.
A little Rock Candy Syrup.
Drink at your own risk.

I don't know that it's a "recipe" per se, but while out with some friends in my early 20's, one of the group asked what the worst possible drink could be. After shouting out some various horrid-sounding concoctions the winning suggestion was gin & milk.

Of course, being young and foolish, we ordered a round of it for the group.

I think I was the only one to finish my drink...but I don't think I deserve anything other than mockery and derision for that feat.

At the Uni bar I had to drink a yard of ale containing a shot of every spirit on the optic of the back bar - whilst standing on a table.

Needless to say I saw it coming back pretty fast.

Other than that, I'm inundated with horrible recipes nearly every day. Some people have no taste

We call it "The Career Ender"

It is:
1 part Stroh 80
1 part Chili-Infused Rum

The Career Ender is a vicious beast that we pour for over-zealous, cocky drinkers... and birthday girls. :)

This almost needs to be two separate threads.

There are a lot of intentionally nasty drinks out there, designed for the amusement of college binge drinkers.

More entertaining to the over-25 set perhaps, are the horrible concoctions that somebody actually thinks are a good idea, and markets as a local or regional delicacy. Many of these are kitchen-sink type recipes full of "secret" ingredients, and are typically over-the-top sweet.

Theres also the ole' Jersey Turnpike... Now Im curious is this is a local recipe or national recipe? (I know for sure it cant possibly be on the other side of the pond...)

The Jersey Turnpike:
Empty the contents of your service bar drink mat into a glass. Shake with ice, and strain into shots.

This is more folklore, everybody knows about and jokes about it, but Ive never seen it done.

I've heard this referred to by many different names, but never the Jersey Turnpike. Gorilla Juice, Sewer Juice...the list goes on.

Oh, and yes, I've had the Turnpike.

It was late and my brother was shutting down the bar and it seemed like a good idea at the time...

Haha!! Every great story always starts "...it seemed like a good idea at the time." That was the title of our trip to Mardi Gras back in 2001. :)

Reminds me of the movie "Sideways" when Paul Giamatti got really pissed about merlot and drank the spit bucket.

I really didn't think that it's so bad, Tiare. I worked hard on that recipe and it took me hours to sew the bunny ears.

Bahamian - I've seen other videos posted on youTube of this very same guy (barschool.com). I can't remember the drink he was specifically making in the other really funny one I saw, but he picked his nose not once - but twice on camera, and immediately proceeded to place his dirty hands on the glassware!

Jack Tiano (sp) President and Founder of American Bartending School!

I wish I could find the link to that one video - it is both hilarious and sickening all at the same time! I'm looking through YouTube and he has several drink videos on there, I'm not finding it yet...

beside all that disgusting nosepicking my favourite line is:

"would fresh lime juice make the drink better? well, yes, but..."

Primate, I remember that You Tube! It was the Daiquiri, but a different version. Same guy, shot from a little farhter away from the bar. He references Bacardi, nose wipes 2 1/2 times and monkeypaws the shaker. I think that they took that one down and replaced it with this one. Pity.:D

Primate, here it is! I don't think that it's up on You Tube, but follow this link, scroll down and you'll see it:

I've also seen this dis(-graceful, -gusting, -picable) series of videos & similar ones as well.

What's worse are some of the comments & "discussions" you see on YouTube following such videos, alternately praising this savagery or (often when a more knowledgeable/savvy reply comes through, decrying the video in question) advocating such idiocy as "flair is the sign of a great bartender", "everclear rulz", "sour mix is so much better than [fresh] juices", and my "favorite" rage-inducing comment, "free pouring is so much better than measuring".

One day all of such foolishness will be forgotten...I hope...

I see, now, from the point of view of a professional how "dis-xxxx" this can be. Akin, I guess, to those exposes of fake doctors and dentists doing medical/dental procedures. Thanks, Samurai.

So many bad habits to break...so little time...

Some people never really make it out of the college mindset of drinking.

Strange that you find that gin and milk is horrible. I have "sported" on gin with milk and cream soda in my younger days. At that time it was wonderful and we could have "sported" the whole night and still be fresh next morning.

I must admit that gin and milk is a combination I would not have thought of. I like the addition of cream soda though.

Were you using London dry gin?, or the Dutch genever?

It's always fascinating to learn of the different tastes from different backgrounds and areas of the world.

Down here the locals are fond of mixing Scotch with Coca-Cola...That always twists my tongue.

The gin was London Dry - Gilbey's. An exciting gin.
Want to try gin, beer and cola? It gives a good kick.

Gin, milk, and cream soda you say?

I could see where the cream soda could actually make that a good drink...and I have all of those ingredients at home...

Perhaps I'll try this as a celebratory drink if the Lakers win tonight...or a consolation drink if they don't.

Is there a name for this interesting mixilogical combination?

not the worse, but sounds odd...

moose milk is a new year's day tradition. the morning after the big party, mix vanilla ice cream and gin in the blender to take the edge off. It's good!
