I couldnt find anything on this cachaca other than what the distiller's website says. The bottle looks like a cheap tequila.
Has anybody tried this spirit?

Yes, Alain and Silvio, the two guys that bring Moleca Cachaзa (http://www.moleca.net/) in from Brazil have their little office here in Coral Gables. It's a fine pair of double distilled cachaзas aged in oak; white for one year ($30), gold for three years ($40).
A Moleca is a mischievous, impish little girl, hence the logo is a little angel.
At the last tasting I did with them, a little angel from Brazil was going around offering drinks. She was delicious and so was the spirit. The packaging and the presentation are first class.
Although I consider these products to be priced quite high, they are among the best quality cachaзas currently available in the US.

Really!? I thought the bottle looked unimpressive from their website. Well, if you say its good, then Ill trust your judgment. Hopefully I can get a good price on it. If you see Alain and Silvio, let them know theyre gonna have placement up in Philly!

Hi,
I've been in the spirits business for more than 10 years now, working for Allied Domecq and in the last two years for Diageo, where I managed the rum business for Latin America based out of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Right now I'm in Miami and last weekend I've been to a nice carnival event organized by Moleca at Marinheiros. Let me tell you, after living in Brazil for a while and having experienced quite a few cachaзas, Moleca is one of a kind. From my POV, it is what Patron is to tequilas, a great liquid in all aspects. I found the packaging nice, compared to many other cachaзas going around (and especially to the typical standard chachaзa like 51, Pitu, etc.). I tried the silver as caipirinha (very good and very well prepared - had a couple of them), and the gold version as a chilled shot, which was actually superb. A lot smoother than I expected, much smoother than super-premuim tequilas and still with all the "kick" in it. I do recommend it.
Cheers,
Matias
