Hello everyone,

glad I found this little cove on the virtual seas. I'm a rum newbie, my alcoholic obsessions having been wine and single malt until now. I just purchased my first two bottles, Pyrat XO and Santa Teresa 1796. I first noticed these in the catalogue of a German luxury store/mailorder (manufactum), and when they appeared on ebay for half the price (i.e. slightly above US retail) I could not resist. Once my cold fades, I'm set to explore this new world of flavors. A little Caribean flavor can't hurt in the middle of Germany :p

Welcome to the rum forum! I buy most of my rums from your country as we have just a few varietes in Sweden.

Hi there...while you get more experienced with the Rum I want to recommend you another rum from Venezuela: Pampero Aniversario...I work for global Co. in Venezuela and my counterparts in Germany always ask for this rum when I visit them :).

Pampero Anniversario is an excellent rum by anyone's measure :)

Thanks for the welcome.

@Tiare: while prices here seem quite high compared to the US, I agree it must seem like paradise from a Scandinavian perspective. There's quite a variety to be bought on the net alone.

@Fabio&pcguy: Pampero is on my list of "to tries" :)

@Dood: well, you will at least get a glas of rum in Germany. Everything else should follow :D

As long as I'm good enough to be able to order my beer this coming September.
