Found some island guidelines for creating Mabi recipes: some add cloves, cinnamon, anise. Many add bitters as well. Plus, of course, rum. There are claims that Mabi may be an aphrodisiac, with unsubstantiated claims that Mabi may lower cholesterol, treat diarrhea and diabetes. One substantiated study found that Mabi with coconut lowered blood pressure.

In any case, the Taino brand is a different and tasty drink, I love it's ingredients and molasses overtones and think it's really a terrific mixer for rum...
