Hi all!

What a great community!

I must confess I'm a beer/SM scotch lover, but I tried premium Rum just recently (before Christmas): Angostura 1919 (based on El Machete review)...what a shock!!!

OK...no point fighting it...I'm in for another ride :D

So far, after finishing my (first!) 1919 bottle, I had the pleasure to try the Mount Gay XO, The El Dorado 15, The Santa Teresa 1796 (Christmas gift), and the Appleton Extra. What a journey so far...I have the feeling it is just the beginning!

Anyway, thanks all for the great info; I raise my glass to all of you! Cheers!

Greetings,
I enjoy each of your picks, and as the mavens here have said, you started with some good ones. On the other hand, if you start with the bad ones, you never get it so you might as well get off on the right start!

You people need to find this one and try it. It is from Guatemala. I would love to get it in Montreal but as yet, there is no demand. Please try it. You can find it in many store in the US. Manhattan easily but even in Reading PA or Philly where I usually get it.

Many of us people have. In fact:
"101 of 375 Ministry of Rum forum members have selected Zacapa - Ron Zacapa Centenario Reserva as one of their favorites." (http://www.ministryofrum.com/rumdetails.php?r=444) We like it, too. A lot.

dan of mcgill, welcome to the forum. Please introduce yourself with a new thread in Introductions, so that we can know you proper, though I imagine that you won't have to give people your email address.

You will also find threads recommending many rums that are similar to Zacapa in flavor profile.

defaultuser--What a start for rum exploration. You either have great skill in choosing your quarry or a knowledgeable guide. Either one deserves a toast.

Hi Dan,

Zacapa 23 is available in New Hampshire, not a long ride from the borders. There's a Quebec thread if you want to stay informed about what's going on:

Welcome to the incredible base of knowledge that is the MoR.
