1000 Day at Sea

Yes, that's a little less than three years at sea. Reid Stowe and Soanya Ahmad (http://1000days.net) are on an adventure of a lifetime. They set sail on Monday, 23 April 2007 and as I write this they are in the Southern Ocean.

I met Reid about 10 years ago when he was preparing the schooner Anne, which he built, for the voyage. There have been a lot of setbacks but he and his crew are on their way. I ran into Reid again in November 2006 on the lower Manhattan waterfront. I saw what had to be schooner masts and had to investigate. All the best to Reid and Soanya.

Reading your earlier post re buying a boat and getting into read alongside this thread make me think of Robin Lee Graham's adventures as related in his book entitled Dove. I haven't read it in at least twenty years, but I loved it at the time. Besides the great stories of sailing around the world, Dove also told the story of a person seeking to live a meaningful life. Check it out if you aren't familiar with it.
