Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business, announced today the introduction of three products to its fast-growing Progressive Adult Beverages (PAB) category:
Smirnoff Ice Light, Smirnoff Ice Strawberry Acai (ah-SAH-ee), and Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Mojito.

-- Smirnoff Ice Light - Smirnoff Ice Light is the latest addition to the Smirnoff Ice line of flavored malt beverages, bringing together the top selling PAB brand with the fast-growing luxury light segment. One bottle contains only 110 calories and offers consumers a crisp tasting alternative to light beer. Available in six-packs and variety packs at the suggested retail price of $7.49; twelve-packs will also be available.

-- Smirnoff Ice Strawberry Acai - This strawberry-flavored beverage also has a hint of acai, which is a Brazilian fruit that has notes of blueberry and chocolate. The combination of the already popular strawberry flavor with the exciting new flavor of acai is truly unique. Available in six-packs at the suggested retail price of $7.49; it will also be included in new Smirnoff Ice variety packs and will be offered in 24-ounce bottles.

-- Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Mojito - Captain Morgan Parrot Bay brings consumers the island flavor of the hugely popular Mojito. This ready-to-drink beverage is a refreshing fusion of mint and lime flavors. Six-packs are priced at $7.49, and the product will be available in variety packs and 24-ounce bottles.

"Consumer tastes dictate the need for new flavor options and low-calorie offerings," said Mark Breene, Vice President, Diageo Progressive Adult Beverages. "The addition of these three products to Diageo's PAB lineup will solidify our position as the industry's category leader."

When enjoying these new products, and all its products, Diageo reminds its adult consumers to drink responsibly. As the world's largest spirits, wine and beer company, Diageo is committed to social responsibility and the responsible marketing of its brands. The Diageo Marketing Code is one of the most stringent in the industry. Diageo is a founding member and major supporter of The Century Council, a not-for-profit organization whose programs are designed to combat drunk driving and underage drinking.

Daigeo represents Cacique Rums in Venezuela. I don't like too much this rum but want to know any opinion about it. Their premium one is CACIQUE ANTIGUO but it is very expensive (75 USD) so it is only a good choice for the rum connoisseurs.

I have a bottle of the Cacique Ron Anejo, it is a decent rum, but nothing special. A little too much edgeiness on it's own, and it does not seem to mix well with Ginger. It was very inexpensive at 11.99, that is why I tried it. I have heard the upper echelon rums from this label are supposed to be very good.

I used to drink Cacique rums when I'd visit Venezuela, but when I discovered Diplomatico things changed and then in 1997, Santa Teresa came out with their 1796 and then, well the rest is history. The Cacique 500 was a little disappointing but in Venezuela it was less than $5, which considering Pampero was less than half that was very expensive.

Pampero Anniversario always had a good following but there have been some changes in the last year.

Yup, it's all about Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva at the moment from Venezuela. Cacique (as hank says) is Ok but nothing special. It is big in the south of Spain but they are drinking it with loads of (club) soda with a twist of Orange.

My Cacique 500 took an amazing turn recently when I tasted it. It was actually better than before.

I just posted a review on C500 (http://www.refinedvices.com/Ron-Cacique-500-Ron-Extra-Anejo-Venezuela) if you are still interested in these rums, Fabio.

Thanks for your opinion on Cacique 500.

My sister has a bottle, I will try this weekend :).

I switched time ago to Santa Teresa and Diplomбtico rums (I also maintain great appreciation for Pampero Aniversario which is the most traditional rum in Venezuela in my opinion and the one that has maintained same flawor and quality for more than 50 years). Recently I am enjoying Ron de Caldas 8 yr. which is a very interesting rum from Colombia.

Do not loose the opportunity to try Cacique Antiguo that is definetly one of the best dark rums in the Venezuela. Also, Diplomatico Reserva Especial (exceptional !!!).

Regards, Fabio.

I've been craving Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva for ages. The unusual green bottle caught my attention. Cacique Antiguo is something I wish to try now as well. Problem is, where to find them at a reasonable price? Diplomatico I can get from UK but the shipping price from specialty drinks is pretty high.

Pampero Anniversario is now produced at the distillery that also makes Cacique and Diplomatico. When the change occurred a couple of years ago the blend was also changed and to my taste there Pampero Anniversario now contains rums which are not aged as long. In 1995, I was told that Pampero Anniversario was a blend of 4 - 6 year old rum, I haven't gotten a recent age statement from Diageo.

I taste a decent amount of mature rum in my Pampero Anniversario. Perhaps more mature than El Dorado 5 or Doorly's 5 or Flor de Caсa 5.

Thanks for the info, Ed. I hadn't noticed a change but I wonder how old my bottles are?

How long have the later bottlings of Pampero been on the market?
