In a perfect world, Appleton would be bigger than Bacardi! This is good news.

My understand is that Brown-Forman imports Appleton into the US. They also own Jack Daniels and so, Appleton is rested in used Jack barrels.

I just met with my liquor rep from Capital Wines who represent Browns-Forman. Browns Forman WAS the previous owner of Appletons. She heard about the sale but knows not much more than was on Ed's link. We are curious to see how distribution is going to change here in PA, Appleton, and all of its products are available in PA (either listed or SLO), however Angostura is very much unavailable. The only thing avail. is 1824. The 1919 used to be, but was pulled.
I realy hope this sale means big things for Angostura, because any changes to Appleton would be bad, seeing as I have every rum of theirs (that I know of) except the Masters Blend.

Appleton has greatly benefited by their association with Brown-Forman, who has done some of the best research into barrel technology. I hope to describe some of their research in my next book.
