I debated about putting this under rumors, but I decided to put it here instead. I'm working on the next book and have a couple of working titles; The InComplete Guide to Rum - since any book will be incomplete in some way or many, Edward Hamilton's Guide to Rum - pretty catchy eh?, or maybe More Rum. While I'm working on this book I've been adding content from the last books to the country and distillery pages of this site in an attempt to force myself to get this process underway while it's cold outside and I don't have time to go sailing.
Yesterday I got an email from the heir of a west coast book store owner to whom I had sold some first edition books more than 10 years ago. Unfortunately that independent book store closed but some first edition Rums of the Eastern Caribbean were recently found. The owner isn't sure where or how these books will be sold but I'm trying to buy them and make them available on this site.
If I can't buy them I'll post a link to the store / site where they can be purchased. Hopefully some of these will be available soon but the owner has a lot to do during the holidays.

Write me down for one of them.

This morning I got an email from david losangeles asking about the authenticity of this first edition book on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/rums-of-the-eastern-caribbean_W0QQitemZ220186406852QQihZ012QQcategoryZ 378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). This looks like the book(s) I was contacted about last weekend.
Great news, Ed!
I, personally, prefer your first two title possibilities as I think they have a better chance of drawing in that person getting their first book on rum (in case they can't get a copy of your previous offerings...you don't want to scare them away ;) ).

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Looking forward to the next book as well.

Glad to hear the book project is underway. When ready to hit the author circuit, start here in Coral Gables at the most famous independent book store in the country: Books And Books. Of course, there will have to be a tasting of fine rums at the author event.

I thought City Lights (http://www.citylights.com/) was the most famous, or maybe that's infamous, independent book store in the US.

How about a working title of "Endless Rummer"? Those of us old enough to have seen the movie which this title parodies could see the parallels. It implies the ever curious nature of the author as he spans the world in search of a quality "ride". Kind of has a ring to it I think.

How about The Ministry of Rum Vol.1?

Some time ago, I was able to find a copy of Ed's first book on Amazon, and have it on the shelf with his second book. I am really looking forward to the next book!

I would just like to mention that the old title worked so well that it is now impossible to find! And since some classic guides of this type often benefit from undergoing a second edition, why not yours? I would see the same old title with the mention '2nd Edition' next to it, with a slightly different cover and some more pages and illustrations... and voila! Another best-seller on the tracks! Just my two cents! Cheers!
