Hi, I am new to the entire field of Rum. Of course, I've drank it before, but as a young professional, I feel I finally have the ability to enjoy fine rums and become knowledgable in the field. I look forward to learning from everyone and discovering some new tastes. Any recommendations on how to get started in collecting and discovering fine rums is appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. I suggest you start exploring rum by reading Rum 101 and reading some of the posts while tasting a few rums to see what you like.

Welcome!

If you post your thoughts about what you've tried, even in the simplest terms, it will help others make recommendations for you. Otherwise we're just listing our favorites.

Thank you for the Welcome... Any thoughts on the Barbancourt Special Reserve, I see it is a recommended Rum on this site. Additionally, I was looking at Ron Zacapa Centario Reserva...

Thanks again.

I can recommend the Barbancourt 8-year-old, but I don't have sufficient tasting of the 4 or 15.

The Ron Zacapa 15-year-old is very good. The 23-year-old is stupendous.

Barbancourt is a good rum to try to discover different styles of rum. I would also recommend Cruzan Estate Diamond, El Dorado 12 year old and Barcelo or Brugal from the Dominican Republic for rums that aren't expensive and are very approachable.
