Smatt's Jamaica Silver Rum

I have a recommendation for you chaps. If you can, do check out the new Smatt's Rum created at Long Pond in Jamaica.

It's a white rum straight off the column still absolutely packed with flavour due a very long, ester-full, classic Jamaican fermentation.

Highly recommended - the finest unaged white rum I've tasted in as long as I can remember.

In checking the web, Smatt's Silver seems pretty expensive for an unaged spirit. The price would not deter us from an initial try were it available locally. Can the high price be related to cost or is it merely meant as luxury product placement?

Is there any info with respect to availability on this side of the pond?

Have you tried Smatt's Black yet?

I had to look twice before I believed the above post was someone trying to market silk purses made from sow's ears. Thanks for the tip Paul. Considering the difference in taste in the UK and the US, I'll reserve judgment until I can try some.

I generally reserve my judgment until I've tasted something, unless I know the story I'm being told about the product I'm presented smells like the south end of a north bound bull in which case I generally loose interest faster than a newly elected politician in his campaign promises.
