I know, I know...big surprise that a Tiki Bar appreciates rum.
This little gem is in the Gas Lamp District in downtown San Diego. While it's food was not something I found all that special, the drinks were quite good, as was their selection of rums.
I was immediately impressed with the fact that they prominently displayed bottles of Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva and Zaya on one side of the bar. On the other side there were bottles of Ron Matusalem Gold and Platinum, Flor de Cana 4, 7, and 12, Sailor Jerry, and Cruzan Black Strap...and others.
The drinks were well-made, especially their Matusalem Mai Tai, which is served in the appropriate fashion, such that you know you're drinking RUM and not juice, sugar, and maybe there's some rum in there but you're not sure.
I highly recommend it for a drink or two if you're ever in the area.
