OK, everybody say the pledge with me....from now on, whenever I see full palm-wrapped bottles of Z23 for a reasonable price....glass.gif

There may be some Guatamalan Zaya at Broadway Liquors in Lawrence. Also West Concord Liquors. Its been a couple of months since I was there though.

Sorry to burst your rum bubble, looks like that website hasn't been updated since 2007 - when the full wrap was still available...
Though it would be nice to see them do a special edition one of these days.

I don't think so. They've only just recently redesigned the current bottles.

Not busting my bubble...I am not crazy about the Zacapa 23...
I'll admit, that I do have a bottle of their "Straight from the Cask" product and it has a little more bite than the 23...it's a good way to finish a night of rum drinking!

The current bottle design seen here (http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/../rumdetailsz.php?r=444) has been in the works since 2001 and has been in production for more than 7 years.
There are no plans to bring back the old packaging. The reason that the Rons de Guatemala site hasn't changed the front picture is because that is a flash image and it hasn't been updated.

I found 4 more bottles today; same price, different location. Also Planters Gold # 7657 for $55.

I'm currently in New England for vacation. I went to Vermont and Rhode Island and am currently in Hyannis Cape Cod. As far as Mass. goes, which places should I not miss? Does that Barretts place has nice selection?
I've been to Joyal's in West Warwick, RI and was quite impressed. I grabbed a Starr, D'Aristi, Botran and a Depaz. The selection was insane.
And by the way, I know NH selection by heart. I want something that can not be found there.
Thank you.

I happened to get a bottle a a random liquor store. If this is a collector's item, who is the collector and what can it be traded for?

Depends...seems there is a good portion of people who think the original palm weaved bottle of Zacapa 23 is much better than what is being sold now. I've not had the older version so can't say for sure. Those that like the original would be your target.
I see a number of original Zaya being sold on the "bay" so that could be something to look at...if you haven't already been offered something for it.
