Seagram's rum - anyone tried it?

Hello all,

According to the local liquor store guy, Seagram's rum is being closed out, so they are selling 750ml bottles for around $5. I usually equate price with quality (to a certain degree), but that is quite an attractive price. LOL

Has anyone here tried it and lived to tell the tale? I am a mixer, if that matters.

I use Seagram's Smooth Brazilian as one of my PREFERRED mixers. Sorry to hear that it is not doing well. My suggestion would be to buy it.

It's a delicious midway stop between an agricole and a cachaca. Even at $10 a 750ml, it was a good value.

I agree - it is quite good. I am surprised that it is being discontiued so soon - I had not heard anything here. Perhaps it is just going to be carried at your store? Anyone else hear any rumors?

Try one, and if you like it, I'd stock up - it is certainly a HIGH quality mixer and even does ok over ice!

Not a big fan, but as a light mixer or if you sweeten the hell out of it in a caipirinha/caipirinissima, $5 a bottle is a hard deal to turn down.

That is sage advice for only $5 and you get a bottle of rum with the advice.

I'd never seen it before here in Oregon, but lo and behold, I spotted some yesterday at a local liquor store. $13 a bottle, so not quite as attractive as $5.

Just picked up a bottle in Columbus. So it's still available in Ohio. $9.10. The smell and taste remind me of Southeastern Ohio moonshine.
